Post a Comment View All 62 Comments Even if you eat healthy all the time, you're bound to experience the occasional hankering for something that's not exactly waistline-friendly. The fact is, you can and should indulge every so often. I know when I ignore my need for chocolate, I end up settling on a second-rate substitute--and then the chocolate wins me over later anyway, sometimes in quantities I'm not exactly proud of.

The good news is you can treat yourself to smarter, more sensible options that taste equally delicious. Next time you have a yen for something yummy, try these healthy swaps to keep you satisfied morning, noon or night.

YOU CRAVE: A chocolate cream-filled doughnut (307 calories, 20.8 grams fat)
TRY INSTEAD: A plain glazed doughnut (239 calories, 11.5 g fat) or a raised sugar doughnut (205 calories, 11 g fat)

You'll save 60 to 100 calories and nearly 10 g fat but still get a sweet treat to go with your morning joe. (Also, try cutting it in half or quarters and slowly eat it in bits to see if you even want the whole thing!)

YOU CRAVE: Bacon and eggs (461 calories, 35.4 g fat)
TRY INSTEAD: Two slices of bacon with two small whole-grain pancakes and 2 tablespoons syrup (364 calories, 12.4 g fat)

This sensible substitute allows you to eat breakfast like a champ without chomping a third of your fat for the day. Or be even more virtuous and opt for an egg-white omelet instead of the pancakes.

YOU CRAVE: Potato chips (155 calories, 10.6 g fat per ounce, about 15 chips)
TRY INSTEAD: Lighter baked chips (84 calories, 3.2 g fat)

The same crunch as you munch with about half the calories and a third of the fat.

YOU CRAVE: French fries (537 calories, 28 g fat per 6-oz order)
TRY INSTEAD: Baked frozen fries (260 calories, 7 g fat per 6 oz)

Skip the drive-thru and hightail it to your freezer--you'll save calories, fat and cash. Try sweet potato varieties for a dose of skin-smoothing and vision-helping vitamin A. If you're out and ordering a burger, ask for salad instead of fries on the side, and try to retrain your brain to not need a side of fries with that burger meal.

YOU CRAVE: Chocolate milk shake (544 calories, 12.3 g fat per 16 oz)
TRY INSTEAD: Chocolate smoothie (372 calories, 5.4 g fat)

Whip up this calcium rich alternative at home: Blend 2 cups lowfat milk, 1 frozen banana, 1 tbsp chocolate syrup and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract in a blender. Delicious! You can also try simply having a cup of skim milk with 1 tbsp of chocolate syrup for 141 calories and just over 1/2 gram of fat!

Joint ventures in business and marriage

DISCUSSION TOPIC: In Your Opinion, What Is The #1 Essential Ingredient for Joint Venture Success? Tell us about any recent joint ventures you have participated in - what did you like, what didn't you like - what would you do differently the next joint venture you do?

Joint Ventures are based on trust. That would be my pre-defining ingredient. I have to believe that I can trust the people I'm dealing with.
The next quality would be flexibility. It is essential for all partners to be flexible while the venture is being defined and developed.
It's no use saying 'I'm doing this', if during your investigations, you find that the concept has to morph and that what you want to do doesn't match anymore.
Finally -- whilst you should always focus on success, you should be prepared for the venture not to work. It happens and being cranky or upset with other team members isn't productive. Learn and move on.
PMFor myself, I consider just about any work I do for a customer a JV. My work can, and does, help them to success -- in that respect, it's a JV.

Excellent choice of words , that working with a customer is a jv , as it the conbinded efforts of you both, his needs and what you do to satisfy and make that memorable so that he comes back again for your help

That is the way I am developing my way of thinking..as far as work and other areas of my life...my marriage is a joint venture.. one of what can we both do..not one take and gving but each sharing with our strengths and being there when there is a weakness
Any friendship worth having is a joint venture. So, what do others think about the important factors for a JV?

trust number one, there also have to be boundaries in a JV
That's a good one How do you define the boundaries? and manage the team if the boundaries are breached?

right, honesty is also important, don't be afraid to say you can't do something

life does happen, but when it comes to your work do it in stages. not the whole thing.. like posting on sites ad sharing on forums, take each by bit ..that way the work gets done as much is tedious'
ah.... the chunk it down strategy Absolutely.
yup dont bite off more than you can chew
its so easy sometimes to agree and say yes. ..dont always be a yes person

its sharing what we know, and with our weakness we gain strength

What experience have I learned one is simple, take a list , break it down. find what you do..and do well, what you dont, and what you can learn..how long is the venture. what do you both walk away with..is it short term or longer..

what is the outcome you expect ..and your partner are you on the same page

So - how do handle the situation where your business partner(s) aren't living up to their obligations / commitments?

would be to talk it out first and see if you can find common ground. If not then the partnership will not survive and it's best to go your seperate ways before you end up resenting each other

in some partnerships you will find one dominant and one "peace-maker" which could also read as "door-mat" to a certain extent
yes but one lets themself be a door mat...it just does not happen
so in business we need to share and speak up assertively but not aggressively and not to take the front seat at tall times

that's true, the dominant partner COULD work on bolstering up the ego of the non dominant, but that's not something anyone would want to do for very long

Depends on the role and the needs , sometimes we need to nurture the other to make the other blossom
but I think it would be important in a JV to make sure that your personalities are compatible or support each other

yes that is part of the ground work of the networking so that you see things on the same wave length

A joint venture can't be one-sided
You also bring to the table what you are able to do in all honesty. if it is the work or the skills..or money
well in a marriage or a business partnership?
what strengths you bring , what you set out what needs to be done on daily or weekly basis

once a year or when boundaries get blurred you have another honest discussion and if necessary revise the contract
n fact, from experience the worst JV I was involved in was where some team members wouldn't admit what they couldn't do... so we didn't have the right skills to deliver.

n fact, from experience the worst JV I was involved in was where some team members wouldn't admit what they couldn't do... so we didn't have the right skills to deliver.
some have worked and some have failed, the ones that failed were because of a stop in contact
keep in touch so that each has the set plan of the day with also what the persons other needs are

think of the best most rewarding relationship you have and apply that to your business relationship.and.... there has to be a realisation that everyone's situation changes from week to week, day to day

... not only do we need to be respectful of that, but we also need to open with the team about what our timing is like on an ongoing basis.
its like stepping up to the scale , when you expect packages to be mailed out then they are done. or reminders or invoices...done when needed . also that you both take responsibilty for maintaing what you set upl
even if the other person is a guru you dont just take it for granted

and... on the other side of that coin is - if you say you're going to do something, do it or get back and say you can't.

Diets forget it

self-restraint. We've got a better plan: Stuff yourself silly. There's a way to fill your mouth and your stomach without doing the same to your yoga pants. It's called fiber, and if you still think of it as something Grandma stirs into her OJ to stay regular, you need a serious update. "Fiber is the secret to losing weight without hunger," says Tanya Zuckerbrot, R.D., author of The F-Factor Diet. One U.S. Department of Agriculture study found that women who increased their daily fiber intake from 12 grams to 24 absorbed 90 fewer calories per day than those who ate the same amount of food but less fiber. Do nothing to your diet other than add more of the rough stuff and you will lose nine pounds in a year, effortlessly. Here's how this wonder substance works — and why you'd have to be nuts to let a day pass with less than your recommended 25 grams.

Fiber 101

What is it, exactly, that we're asking you to shovel into your body? Fiber is the indigestible part of a plant. It's in fruits, veggies, whole grains, nuts, legumes, and beans. Now that the fiber trend is catching on, you'll also find it added to yogurt, soy milk, pasta, and more. Other foods pause to pay a toll along your gastrointestinal highway, but fiber zips through E-ZPass style because your body can't digest it. Like seat fillers at the Oscars, fiber fills a void and then vanishes when something better takes its place.

You've probably heard of the two kinds of fiber, soluble and insoluble. Soluble fiber tends to hide inside foods — the flesh of apples, the grain of rice inside the hull. It's what gives cooked veggies their soft, mushy quality. In your stomach, soluble fiber binds with liquids to form a gummy gel that makes you feel full as it slows digestion, letting your body absorb more nutrients from the rest of your food.

Insoluble fiber is what most octogenarians are after. It bulks up as it absorbs liquid in the stomach; the bulk pushes waste down and out of your system. Insoluble fiber is usually found in the skins and outer parts of foods, and it's what gives many their tough, chewy texture. "Think of insoluble fiber as a broom," Zuckerbrot says. "Basically, it speeds up the passage of material through your digestive tract and sweeps out all the toxins in your body." Translation: Hello, fiber; goodbye, constipation.

As long as you're eating natural foods, you'll reap the belly-filling benefits of both kinds of fiber. By taking up space in your stomach, fiber foils overeating by making you feel too stuffed to keep snacking. And while you're enjoying the satisfaction of a full stomach, you can gloat over the fact that it likely took fewer calories to achieve that feeling: Foods that pack a lot of fiber can help lower your carb intake. If you're noshing on cereal with 44 grams of carbs per serving, but 10 of those carb grams come from dietary fiber, your body will absorb only the 34 grams of nonfiber carbs. The result: High-fiber fare can help you stay out of the spike-and-crash cycle some high-carb foods can create.

Diamonds in the roughage

The only bad thing about fiber is that most of us don't get enough of it. "More research is showing that Americans' intake of fruits and vegetables remains below recommended levels," says Sari Greaves, R.D., a spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association. Remember that RDA of 25 grams? The average woman squeaks by on about 14, according to the Agricultural Research Service. Too many of us chow down on fiber-empty grub like chips and soda. Fiber-rich foods deliver more bang for their bulk: They tend to be the most nutrient-dense, which matters if you're cutting calories.

Now that fiber comes in everything from yogurt to grape juice, it might be tempting to let fiber-added goods fill the gap. But while those products have their place, they shouldn't be your go-to source. "It's always better to get your fiber from whole foods," Greaves says. Supplements and add-ins don't have the same nutritional benefits as whole foods.

Some easy ways to sneak in natural fiber:

Add a small salad to your dinner.
Swap out your white rice for brown.
Toss kidney beans or chickpeas into your soup.
Switch to cereal with at least five grams of fiber per serving, or go 50-50 with your usual cereal and a higher-octane variety.
Eat high-fiber fruit like raspberries with light whipped cream for dessert.

But before you start eating kidney beans by the truckload, remember that most experts recommend upping your fiber intake gradually. A sudden increase can leave you bloated and gassy — side effects sure to sabotage your efforts to look good in a miniskirt. "If you're getting about 10 grams a day and suddenly shoot up to 25, you're going to experience a little discomfort," says Carolyn Williams, a nurse practitioner at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona. "You're just not used to that bulkiness."

A better strategy: Start small and build. And drink plenty of H2O — without it, you may find yourself in even more of a bind (pun intended). Don't go overboard, either. Fiber's benefits start to wane once you hit 50 grams per day. "It doesn't happen often," Greaves says, "but you can max out. Too much fiber can compromise the absorption of vitamins and minerals."

If you're not getting enough fiber through food alone, supplements can make up the difference. "Fiber got a bad rap in the '70s because there were all these horrible concoctions — twigs and branches and wheat germ," Williams says. "Now we can get it without even tasting it. Fiber from supplements makes people full, and it's very healthy for you." Sounds better than tree bark, doesn't it?

Sex and Pregnancy

sex in pregnancy
: the ultimate guide

Too sick to want to? Not sure if you even still can? Whether you can't wait to try it or you're scared you might hurt the baby, one thing is for sure; sex during pregnancy is a whole new experience. Separate the myths from the facts right here. And get ready to have some fun again! Read more

Whether you're up for it or feeling too tired or sick, there's no escaping the fact that sex during pregnancy is a whole new experience. Some women report that it's the best they've ever had, while others are less than enthusiastic. Of course, both responses are completely normal. Let's find out why.

If you're the woman who is experiencing sex like never before, your pregnant body holds the clue. This heightened pleasure and libido can probably be attributed to the increased blood flow to the pelvic area – including the uterus, vagina and clitoris – where more sensitive nerve endings live. Or, it may be that you finally feel free from the worries about conception and contraception – where a bedroom free of condoms, pills, gels, or diaphragms means no fuss, hassle-free, spontaneous sex. If you find yourself on the other end of the spectrum - where sex isn't even on the radar now that you're pregnant – you're not alone.

The same engorgement that can push some women over the edge of pleasure can give others an uncomfortable feeling of fullness or even abdominal cramping during or after sex. You may be just too darn tired or nauseated to make love – or even care. This really rings true in the first trimester – when early discomforts like breast tenderness, nausea, vomiting and fatigue can lessen your sex drive. Emotionally, a woman may feel less desirable now that she's pregnant or her thoughts may turn inward toward the baby and less to her own pleasure. But things should pick up once you're past the early part of pregnancy. In fact, for many women, the second trimester ushers in a renewed energy and desire for sex. In the last trimester your appetite may wane again as impending labour, delivery, and your belly loom large. And by this point, some women just feel too big and unattractive to even worry about sex.

But what about how the father-to-be feels? Your partner probably finds you sexier than ever. In fact, his desire may actually grow as you and the baby do. The luckiest men are thrilled with the changes pregnancy brings to their sex life. A new voluptuousness in their partner – including larger, fuller breasts and belly – are a real turn-on for many men. But just as some women have reservations about sex in pregnancy, your partner may as well. His desire may be dampened by his concern for you and the baby's health, apprehension and anxiety about becoming a new father, fear that sex can hurt the baby, or even self-consciousness about making love in the presence of your unborn child.

Here are the most common myths about having sex during pregnancy:

Myth #1 ~ Having sex will cause premature labour
Although no medical evidence exists to show sex causes labour – or miscarriage – stimulation of the breasts can speed up the production of oxytocin – a chemical that can cause contractions when you near your due date. But wait. As pregnancy progresses, you'll discover that you can – and indeed will – have all sorts of minute contractions without going into labour. This is an absolutely normal part of pregnancy. And although sex is totally safe until the day you deliver – your doctor or midwife may decide to limit sex if your pregnancy is considered high risk. This includes women with a previous history of premature labour, early cervical dilation, placenta previa, premature rupture of the membranes or vaginal bleeding or pain during intercourse.

Bra Sizing Wizard

About 60 - 70% of women wear a bra that is not the correct size for them. Check the Best Fit Guide to find out if your bra is giving you the look and support you need.

The breast changes significantly over time, particularly during and after pregnancy. We recommend you check your bra size at least twice a year and whenever you notice a weight change of more than 5% from your recent average. Use this quick and easy fitting guide to check your size today.

Check Your Size

Before you start:
1. Try to get someone to take the measurements for you - you will be in a more natural, relaxed posture and so the measurement is going to be more accurate.
2. Use a tape measure that is not stretched - tapes can distort a lot as they get older so buy a new one if you need to.
3. Wear the bra you feel most comfortable in - use the Best Fit Guide to make sure the one you choose is OK.
4. Don't measure over the top of clothing - common sense, I hope!
5. When measuring, keep the tape taught - but don't let it cut into or distort your natural outline.

Note: This way of finding your bra size is accurate for about 50% of women. If you find the result here is very different from the bra size you are wearing (and your current size is correctly fitted, comfortable and supportive), go with your current size. We will happily exchange any item for another size, so you can order with complete confidence.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 1. Underbust. This gives you the bra's 'back size'. Standing with arms relaxed by your sides, measure just below the line of your bra. Round the measurement down if it is less than ½ way to the next figure (34.3in becomes 34in). Round the measurement up if it is more than ½ way to the next figure (34.7in becomes 35in). Enter your rounded measurement here in inches or centimetres (don't add anything to it):

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 2. Bust. This is used to find your cup size. Standing with arms relaxed by your sides, measure over the fullest part of your bosom. Make sure the tape is level and it's not pulled too tight. Round the measurement in the same way as Step 1. Enter your rounded measurement here in the same units used in Step 1:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Calculating Your Bra Size

The system given below and used in our Fitting Room Wizard is accepted as the current industry standard in UK/Europe and is also widely recognised worldwide. Unfortunately the system was devised when women's body were an altogether different shape. The system is now effective for less than 50% of women!

The only sure way to get a bra that fits is to have a fitting with an expert. Even this process is as much about trial and error as following a system. It's just that the expert fitter has a much better idea of where to start and what adjustments to make in the sizes to get the best overall effect.

Try this measuring system first and compare the results with the size you are wearing now. The calculations use 2 basic measurements and are very straight forward. This is all done for you automatically with the Bra Sizing Wizard.

Measurements in Inches

Back Size. Once you have your underbust measurement, rounded to the nearest inch, do the following:

If the measurement is an odd number - add 5 inches.

If the measurement is an even number - add 4 inches.

For example: Your underbust measurement is 31.3 inches. Rounded to the nearest inch gives 31 inches. This is an odd number, so add 5 inches. Giving a back size of 36.

Cup Size. Cup size is found by taking the difference between your bust measurement, rounded to the nearest inch, and your back size and then comparing this to the table below.

Notes:

If the size you found using this system is different from the size you wear now, only change your size if you are unhappy with the fit you have.

If you are unhappy with the fit you have, regardless of the results of this calculation, use the Best Fit Guide page to guide your size adjustments.

Just because you measure up to be a certain size does not mean that you will need that size from every manufacturer. Each manufacturer has their own individual interpretation of sizes and they have different ways of cutting the material to create the various styles. You will need to experiment with a new brand to find out how their sizes match to your body shape.

Colon day to day activity

Information on The Various Colonic Irrigation Techniques
The process of colonic irrigations is not something developed in recent years to placate those seeking a new and effective way of keeping their bodies healthy. It has, in fact, been around since the 15th Century BC in ancient Egypt, when a very rudimentary form of the process was used by high-born citizens and royalty.

Almost 3300 years later, Dr. Elmer Lee developed the first medical method of irrigating the intestines and in 1892, he first used his new procedure to treat the Cholera epidemics plaguing Russia at the time. It served to actually reduce or cure the disease in many people and soon became a popular option among physicians treating digestive diseases.

Colonic Irrigation Today
The process of colon cleansing today is slightly more developed and comes in many more varieties than it did a century ago. Today, you can choose from basic colonic hydrotherapy techniques, an at home or doctor administered enema, or any of a number of colon cleansing therapies that use orally ingested products.

Colonic irrigation is among the most popular and most often discussed methods though and involves the flushing of warm water through the colon by a colonic technician to remove the toxins and excess fecal matter that builds up there.

The gravity flow of the water enters the large intestine through a disposable plastic tube that is placed through the anus into the large intestine. The waste is then removed and the colon and large intestine cleansed to ensure the body interacts better with its digestive tract.

There is more than one form of colonic irrigation used by technicians today, but the most effective has been the use of ozone and oxygen therapy, infusing water with additional oxygen to help kill and remove bacteria, viruses, and pathogens from the digestive tract. These microscopic invaders of your body are not only highly damaging to your organs, they can cause further diseases and problems if you allow the situation to progress. Oxygen is their number one enemy and a good dose of oxygenated water not only cleanses excess waste, it kills unwanted bacteria.
Self Colonic Cleansing
Many people have decided that colon cleansing is a necessary step in keeping their bodies operating properly. However, the cost of the procedure can be a major obstacle for some individuals, especially those who rely on medical insurance that will not cover the procedure.

Self colonic cleansing is a good alternative to high-tech colonic irrigation that allows you to obtain the same benefits of the process without needing to pay for an expensive consultation and procedure. You can decide when you go through the process and measure the effects of the cleansing as you take your daily doses. DrFloras Colon Cleanse is just such a product - a completely powdered, natural alternative to the invasive, uncomfortable colonic procedure that makes so many people nervous.

When seeking a colonic cleansing option, be aware of the different effects that method will have on your body as well as what is expected of you. It will make the process and its results that much more welcome if you expect whatever difficulties that might arise.

From a nursing prospective with using a cleanse you must be aware of your potassium levels also your to ensure your blood pressure as this may be affected during the colon cleanse.

Safety concerns

Safety concerns relating to a colon cleanse and what you should be aware of?
Colonics has become such a massive industry in recent years, largely in part due to the growth of its popularity with big name celebrities. When a star endorses a new process or product, it tends to spread like wildfire. Take that into account along with the proven health benefits of the process and it is apparent why colonic treatment is such a popular growing treatment.

A colonic itself is a simple water treatment applied to the colon. It flushes out toxins and impacted fecal matter and clears the digestive tract for a more comfortable, effectively operating body. Other benefits can include the loss of additional weight, increased metabolism, and a massive increase in energy levels as your body is able to operate more normally.

However, there are certain safety risks that have been directly linked to colonics if they are not performed properly. Because a large tube is being placed through the rectum into the end of the large intestine, a trained colonic treatment specialist should be on hand. Before hand, the proper diet, sleep recommendations, and fluid ingestion that the specialist requests should be followed. This ensures that the toxins released and removed from the body do not make you sick, nor that anything goes wrong during the procedure.

Other risks of colonics can include mineral deficiencies, slight to moderate tearing of the rectum, and possible infection. Always talk with your doctor before having a colonic treatment performed and ensure that you are in the proper state of health and in need of the procedure.

Many times, your doctor will not openly advocate the procedure be performed. While the health and appearance benefits of a colonic treatment are evident, it is impossible to know whether or not the discomfort and expense that are associated with a forced removal of feces and toxins from your body are worthwhile.

In contrast, there are many alternative methods to ensuring your body reaps the benefits of a full detox without the negative aspects of a full colonic. A product such as DrFloras Colon Cleanse is a simple powder that can be taken before or after meals for a fifteen day cycle to cleanse the colon naturally of these same toxins. Not only is DrFloras Colon Cleanse and its other products much cheaper and less intrusive to your body than a colonic, they are much safer - the natural ingredients and effective nature of the colon cleanse makes sure your body will not only feel better after it has been cleansed, but that you do not come away with any scars or heavy bills to prove your health.

Information on a natural way to conduct a colon cleanse
When you first sit down and start trying to decide what you can do to improve your everyday health, think in terms of how your body operates. Where do things go and what can you do to make them more effectively reach their destinations. It might seem counterintuitive, but the first and most effective place you can have an impact is in your colon, with a natural colon cleanse.

You start with the colon because it is the body's means by which to expel toxins and waste from the body. If you were to start with the liver before performing a natural colon cleanse, your body would merely auto-intoxicate itself by recycling the toxins from your liver back into your blood stream when they reach your colon. It would be like trying to fix the drive train on a car with a blocked exhaust pipe - it's still not going to move.

There are many different ways to go about a colon cleanse, so what makes a natural colon cleanse so much better of an option? First, it allows you to take control of your body and the speed at which you expel the excess waste from your colon. Colonic hydrotherapy is growing more and more popular because it is easy and only takes an hour but it can be hard on the body and both expensive and embarrassing.

On the other hand, a natural colon cleanse with a product like DrFloras Colon Cleanse starts with the easiest and most basic concept - using natural products to strip and flush free of the body the mucoid plaque and waste that has built up there over time.

Most natural colon cleanse processes start with a regression and reevaluation in your diet. Make sure you are eating the right foods and drinking enough water so that your body can handle the stress and impact that a colon cleansing is going to have on it. Introduce fiber and at least 8 glasses of water a day into your diet and remove things like caffeine, soda, junk food, and alcohol to ensure you do not overcome the positive effects of your colon cleanse with a slew of toxic foods.

In addition, regulate your diet so that you eat smaller meals more often throughout the day, making your colon more ready to pass the waste that it is about to expel. With the right preparation, a natural colon cleanse should be a comfortable, often times exciting process in which your body finally returns to the normal state of being that you never knew it could. You will reduce headaches, minimize skin problems and weight loss hurdles; you will start to feel like you have never felt before. The human body has an amazing capability to heal itself, but you must give it the proper boost it needs to start that healing process and maintain it. The right way to do that is with DrFloras cleanse

The importance of a colon flush

The importance of a colon flush
The value of a good colon flush is almost impossible to fully measure. It has so many benefits and trickles down to so many other benefits that it is almost impossible to imagine just how effective it can be overall in maintaining the overall health of the human body. It flushes out the toxins, parasites, and waste that fill and block the colon, causing a litany of other health problems over time.

Reasons for a Colon Flush
Many people research and seek out assistance in getting a colon flush every year with one of the most common reasons being that they are constipated. This is often simply because of a lack of fiber and water in the diet though. Without fiber and water the bowels become condensed and hard and take more time and effort to pass.

With constipation, you may be forced to strain to pass stool. This straining has many additional negative effects such as the development of hemorrhoids, hernias and additional problems that can be long term and very uncomfortable. A good colon flush will eliminate both these risks and issues before they develop too much further.

But constipation should not be the biggest of your worries by any means. There are other health concerns that are much more substantial for those considering a colon cleansing. Not only does food stay in the colon for much too long, it begins to turn rancid and ferment, creating new bacteria and developing toxins that can infiltrate your body and cause diseases.

If you remain exposed to these things on a daily basis, your body will soon begin to be at very high risk of becoming even more sick with things as severe as colorectal cancer.

To top everything off, the foods you eat are probably only making the matter worse. The human body, despite what we put into it every day, is only designed to process and digest certain things. High volume of protein, fat, and sugar as well as things like dairy products, processed foods, unnatural additives, and high metal and sodium contents are all bad for you if not properly mediated, resulting in the build ups your colon experiences.

When you develop symptoms like constipation, it is often a sign that your colon needs to be cleaned out before the situation gets worse, developing into long term diseases and issues.

A common misconception is that few bowel movements a week means you are doing okay. Unfortunately, you should have at least 1 or 2 bowel movements every day. If you go more than 12-18 hours without a bowel movement, you are likely developing a toxic, unhealthy environment within your body that will soon develop into something much worse - it needs to be cared for as quickly as possible with a good colon flush.

DrFloras Colon Cleanse is designed to do just this - cleansing the colon of the ill mannered and sickness inducing waste that builds up there as a result of a poor diet. If you take care of your colon problems now, you can ensure a safe and healthy long life to come.

The home use of colon machine
Information on The Equipment of At-Home Colonic Therapy
The process of colonic therapy is one that has grown greatly in popularity in recent years, becoming one of the most prominent and fastest growing medical procedures available. However, despite the fact that the medical community does not respect or support the procedure as much as they could, it is also becoming clear that colonic therapy is one of the most effective things you can do for your body in the fight to reduce the risk of colorectal diseases and common physical ailments. It is important, before you ever look into the procedure though that you understand how the machines work and what they do to your body.

The Machine
One of the newest, most advanced colonic therapy machines currently being offered for at home use is known as an "open system". It has become the forerunner in colonic machines that are FDA registered and is quickly being duplicated and improved upon by many companies.

It is not only easy to use; it provides the user with a good deal of privacy, something that has kept many people from visiting colonic therapy centers or purchasing such machines in the past. The machine is set up with a large area in which they recline, sitting down, to expel the contents of their colon. It is more relaxing and does not require you to be out in the open while the procedure is being performed. In addition, the machine uses a single use nozzle that is sterilized before being packaged. The water is treated with ultraviolet and carbon filtration to ensure that it is pure water with no metals or toxins.

The Machine Operator
The colonic machine is used by filling it with both cold and warm water. The water temperature is then controlled by a valve on the machine. Between 99 and 104 degrees is often the most comfortable for most people. If the water begins to get too warm, the machine will often alert the operator so they can make adjustments.

After settling into the machine, the nozzle is inserted into the rectum and the flow of the water is started. The pressure can be adjusted according to your comfort level as well, but is generally rather low. The total procedure time will be between a half hour and forty five minutes for this type of machine while many other procedures will last as long as one hour.

For those performing this procedure at home, you will then proceed to have the contents of your colon drain out afterwards. This might take some time and you must relax as it occurs. Afterwards, shower thoroughly to clean yourself of any excess waste.

The choice to have a home colonic therapy kit is just one of many different new options that have arisen in the market in recent years. Still the most comfortable and reliable method you can use is a natural supplement such as DrFloras Colon Cleanse. It is safer, cheaper, and not nearly so uncomfortable or embarrassing to use as a home colonic kit.

Your colon health

When will I start to see Mucoid Plaque?
Depending on many factors, some users can see mucoid plaque in as little as just a few days, while others may not see it until the end of their cleanse. Not everybody shows mucoid plaque as seen in the photos, but this doesn’t mean you’re not being cleansed. Stick with the cleanse for at least the 15 days.

Why am I not seeing Mucoid Plaque?
Mucoid Plaque on your intestinal lining may be very thick or very thin depending on your lifestyle, genetics, eating habits, and a variety of other things. If a person doing the cleanse has a very thin coating of mucoid plaque in their colon, it is possible to be passed through with your normal stool and go unnoticed. However if the person doing the cleanse has a thick coating it, you may pass stools that appear rubbery and rope like.

How much should I drink while cleansing?
Staying hydrated is of utmost importance while on the cleanse. When taking your colon cleanse shake, you should immediately follow it up with another 8 to 12 oz glass of water. In addition to this, most people benefit from drinking an additional 8 glasses of water throughout the day, or more if you are highly active.

Will I experience weight loss?
Many users have experienced weight loss. Please keep in mind that this is not a weight loss program and should not be used as one. However, one of the benefits of a cleanse is releasing toxins and waste that you have been carrying for a while. Once you have expelled this waste, you might notice an immediate change in your weight upon completing the cleanse. The DrFloras™ colon cleanse also clears out the mucoid plaque that clings to your colon walls, allowing your body to use nutrients more effectively, thus increasing your energy levels, and this may lead to a more lifestyle, thus leading to further weight loss.
Can I use alcohol while on the cleanse?
It is best not to use alcohol during the cleanse. It may not harm you if you do, however alcohol may take away some of the necessary energy to cleanse properly, plus you want to be fully hydrated when on the cleanse, and alcohol does not help this and may lead to problems including constipation.
I am on medication. Can I still take the cleanse?
It still possible to take the cleanse while on medication, however please consult with your physician before taking any of the DrFloras™ products.
Which drugs may interact with the cleanse?
Anticoagulant Medication
Antiplatelet Medication
Antihypertensive Medication
Corticosteroids
Diuretic Medications
Heart Medications
Insulin Medications
**This may not be a complete list of drugs which may or may not interact with the cleanse. Consult your physician for further information
If I’m on medication when should I take the cleanse?
If you are on medication and your physician gave you his/her approval to start the cleanse make sure you take your medication at least 2 hours before or after taking one of the DrFloras™ colon cleanse shakes.

Food recall, is my product safe to eat?

How to determine whether your product has been affected
Our voluntary expanded product recall includes all production from the Bartor Road facility in Ontario (Establishment # 97B). This is a further precautionary measure, notwithstanding the fact that there is no evidence of Listeria contamination in product beyond the production lines originally under investigation.

How do I determine if a Maple Leaf product is part of the recall?
There are two identifiers, a Crown Seal or an Inkjet imprint, on Maple Leaf products that will help you determine if the product is part of the recall.

Look for the Crown Seal with the establishment number (97B) printed underneath the crown.

If 97B is not printed with the Crown Seal look for an inkjet imprint of the Establishment Number (Est97B) near the Best Before Date.

All recalled products include the Establishment Number 97B identified through a Crown Seal or an Inkjet Imprint and the best before date associated with the recall.

How is Listeria affecting your buying at the grocery store?

Listeria monocytogenes (Listeria) is a foodborne illness-causing bacteria; the illness caused by ingestion of Listeria bacteria is called listeriosis. Listeria can invade the body through a normal and intact gastrointestinal tract. Once in the body, Listeria can travel through the blood stream but the bacteria are often found inside cells. Listeria also produces toxins that damage cells.

Listeria invades and grows best in the central nervous system among immune-compromised persons, causing meningitis and/or encephalitis (brain infection). In pregnant women, the fetus can become infected, leading to spontaneous abortion, stillbirths, or sepsis (blood infection) in infancy.

Approximately 2,500 cases of listeriosis are estimated to occur in the U.S. each year. About 200 in every 1000 cases result in death. Certain groups of individuals are at greater risk for listeriosis, including pregnant women (and their unborn children) and people with weakened immune systems.

Among infants, listeriosis occurs when the infection is transmitted from the mother, either through the placenta or during the birthing process. These host factors, along with the amount of bacteria ingested and the virulence of the strain, determine the risk of disease. Human cases of listeriosis are, for the most part, sporadic and treatable. Nonetheless, Listeria remains an important threat to public health, especially among those most susceptible to this disease.

Listeria is often isolated in cattle, sheep, and fowl, and is also found in dairy products, fruits, and vegetables.

Symptoms of Listeria infection
It is thought that ingestion of as few as 1,000 cells of Listeria bacteria can result in illness. After ingestion of food contaminated with Listeria, incubation periods (the time from exposure to onset of illness) are in the range of one to eight weeks, averaging about 31 days. Five days to three weeks after ingestion, Listeria has access to all body areas and may involve the central nervous system, heart, eyes, or other locations.

A person with listeriosis usually has fever, muscle aches, and gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea or diarrhea. If infection spreads to the nervous system, symptoms such as headache, stiff neck, and loss of balance, confusion, obtundation (decreased consciousness) or convulsions can occur. With brain involvement, listeriosis may mimic a stroke. Infected pregnant women will ordinarily experience only a mild, flu-like illness; however, infection during pregnancy can lead to miscarriage, infection of the newborn, or even stillbirth. Pregnant women are about 20 times more likely than other healthy adults to get listeriosis; about one-third of listeriosis cases happen during pregnancy. The incidence of listeriosis in newborns is 8.6 cases per 100,000 live births. The perinatal and neonatal mortality rate (stillbirths and early infant deaths) from listeriosis is 80 percent.

Detection and treatment of Listeria infection
If you have symptoms of listeriosis, a health care provider can have a blood or spinal fluid test done to detect the infection. During pregnancy, a blood test is the most reliable way to find out if your symptoms are due to listeriosis. If you are in a high-risk group, have eaten a product known to be contaminated with Listeria, and within 2 months become ill with fever or signs of serious illness, contact your health care provider and inform him or her about this exposure.

There are several antibiotics with which listeriosis may be treated. When infection occurs during pregnancy, antibiotics given promptly to the pregnant woman can often prevent infection of the fetus. Babies with listeriosis receive the same antibiotics as adults, although a combination of antibiotics is often used until physicians are certain of the diagnosis.

Check with your health care provider before taking over-the-counter medications or antibiotics.

Preventing Listeria infection
General recommendations for preventing Listeriosis include: thoroughly cook raw food from animal sources; keep uncooked meats separate from vegetables and from cooked and ready-to-eat foods; avoid milk that is not pasteurized and sold raw or foods – such as cheese – made from milk that is not pasteurized; wash hands, knives, and cutting boards after handling uncooked foods; wash raw vegetables thoroughly before eating; and consume perishable and ready-to-eat foods as soon as possible.

Recommendations for persons at high risk, such as pregnant women and persons with weakened immune systems, in addition to the recommendations listed above, include: do not eat hot dogs, luncheon, or deli meats, unless they are reheated until steaming hot, and wash hands after handling those products; do not eat soft cheeses (such as feta, Brie, Camembert, blue-veined, or Mexican-style cheese), unless they have labels that clearly state they are made from pasteurized milk; and do not eat meat spreads or smoked seafood from the refrigerated or deli section of the store (canned or shelf-stable products may be eaten).

Woman need to take care of themselves, do YOU?

Do you know that you are probably wearing the bra size?
You know we buy shoes on a regular basis and change them as our activity changes.

We have a need to buy clothes for different seasons or as our bodies change in size.

Yes ladies it does happen as we age that our hips and waist expand , even though we are fighting this on a regular basis.

Question do you wear the same bra size you wore when your were a teen?

Our breast size changes with age, weight gain or loss, pregnancy so we need to adapt.

I know spending money on a bra seems to just make us cringe.

I have an solution.

If I knew?

If I Knew....

If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
And pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time
That I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
And call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
So I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute
To stop and say "I love you,"
Instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.

I would be there to share your day,
Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
So I can let just this one slip away.

For surely there's always tomorrow
To make up for an oversight,
And we always get a second chance
To make everything just right.

There will always be another day
To say "I love you,"
And certainly there's another chance
To say our "Anything I can do?"

But just in case I might be wrong,
And today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
And I hope we never forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
Young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
You get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
Why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
You'll surely regret the day,

That you didn't take that extra time
For a smile, a hug, or a kiss
And you were too busy to grant someone,
What turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today,
And whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
And that you'll always hold them dear

Take time to say "I'm sorry,"
"Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay.
"

And if tomorrow never comes,
You'll have no regrets about today.

what to serve for dinner?

What Should You Serve If Some Of Your Dinner Party Guests Are Diet-Conscious?

By Joanie Williams

You are planning an elegant dinner party, with delicious food and drinks. But you know that two or three of the guests you really want around your table are trying to shed a few pounds.

Can you invite them with a clear conscience – without feeling you are “sabotaging” their dieting efforts? At the same time, can you mix them with guests who are not concerned about their weight?

The answer is a resounding yes - as long as you take five simple steps.

The five steps are all designed to give your diet-conscious guests inviting-looking choices they can enjoy without risking their diet. All of them have the bonus advantage that they are inviting-looking for your non-dieting guests as well.

1. Have a jug of sparkling water available for pre-dinner drinks. Garnish it with a lemon or lime so it looks special, and be sure to serve it in lovely glasses. Your dieting friends will be happy to be drinking their sparkling water while others drink wine.

The trick is in the visuals. The sparkling jug garnished with lemon or lime will look like a “designer drink” so diet-conscious guests don’t feel deprived drinking it.

2. Let the eyes of your dieting guests fall immediately on a safe appetizer choice for them. Position a low fat appetizer front and center of any other appetizer choices.

A beautiful tray of crisp raw vegetables or a tempting shrimp ring fills this bill very nicely. If guests can reach for attractive looking low fat appetizers, they won’t feel so tempted to reach for the more calorie-laden choices.

Now you’ve gotten your guests safely to the table without them breaking their diet resolutions. Keep on offering choices that minimize any sense of deprivation.

3. Choose a main dish that relies on savory herbs for its attraction. Don’t choose a dish that relies on a heavy sauce or gravy.

Steak is a dish that most people can eat happily without loading it with calorie-laden sauces. Roast or grilled chicken is another such choice. A piece of chicken flavored with rosemary or your herbs of choice smells good, looks good and tastes delicious.

Just don’t include a large bowl of stuffing on the side, that’s a highly tempting item most of us would have trouble refusing!

4. Include a pureed squash, sweet potato or turnip dish along with your vegetables and salad. Most green vegetables and salad are no problem for most dieters. Diet-conscious guests can also choose your pureed dishes instead of white potatoes or rice. These dishes fill the plate the same way that potatoes and rice do. And they have the same consistency as fluffy mashed potatoes. (The Atkins diet even recommends pureed cauliflower.) Diet-conscious guests can decline potatoes or rice knowing they will still have filling side dishes.

In other words, your diet-conscious guests don’t need to feel deprived because they still have the volume and texture of mashed potatoes in their vegetable purees.

5. Fresh fruit with chocolate bonbons is a great end to the meal. Your guests can eat the fruit without worrying about calories. And since they have been so diet-conscious throughout the evening, they can treat themselves to a piece or two of chocolate candy.

If you were to offer a chocolate cake they might not be able to resist a piece. But there is a huge difference between a small piece of chocolate candy and a serving of cake and icing. So let them choose just a taste of chocolate instead of tempting them with a large serving.

Now ask yourself – will your diet-conscious guests feel deprived if they are served this kind of menu?

- “Designer” garnished sparkling water to drink with appetizers
- Appetizers of fresh vegetable tray and/or shrimp cocktail with lemon garnish
- Savory herbed roast chicken or grilled steak
- Squash puree
- As many vegetable and salad dishes as you wish
- Fruit with chocolate bonbons

I think you know the answer. Of course your guests won’t feel deprived.

Far from feeling deprived, your diet-conscious guests will probably heartily enjoy your meal. And they will appreciate your thoughtful provision of diet-conscious but delicious choices that still allow them to stick to their diet resolutions.
